John Holswarth

John W Holzwarth, CFA is an expert in patent and securities damages.  With over 20 years of experience in analyzing economic issues in litigation, he has acted as a testifying expert in the United States and Australia.  His testimony has included many of the largest securities class actions in Australia.  Mr. Holzwarth has published on issues related to royalty negotiations and patent damages issue, including being the coauthor of the chapter on patent damages in the forthcoming edition of the Litigations Services Handbook.  Mr. Holzwarth also has spoken at conferences on damages issues, including event study analysis. Mr. Holzwarth has particular experience in:

  • Intellectual Property – he has been retained as a testifying and consulting expert on    issues of reasonable royalties and lost profits for both patent infringement and trade secret matters.  He has offered opinions across a wide range of industries, including:  semiconductors, telecommunications equipment, networking equipment, software, medical devices, and avionics.
  • Securities Class Actions – he has testified and consulted on matters of damages due to alleged securities fraud in Australia and the United States.
  • Damages – he has provided expert opinions and advice across a wide range of issues, including class  actions, contracts, fraud, and anti-trust.

Mr. Holzwarth has an MBA from the Haas School of Business at the University of California at Berkeley and BA from the University of Pennsylvania.  He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.
